Martha Coleman

Martha Coleman, soprano, has a long career as soloist and nationally recognized concert manager. A native of Jacksonville, Florida, she holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia where she studied with Elizabeth Wysor. She later studied with Paul Althouse in New York and Edith Fleischer-Engel in Vienna and is also a graduate of the Vienna Academy of Music, Salzburg Mozarteum and the Interpreters Institute of Munich. Ms. Coleman appeared as guest soloist in opera houses throughout Germany and Austria for 10 years before returning to the US where she performed in summer stock in Saratoga Springs, NY with Tommy Tune. Her career change to artist representative began shortly afterward when she accepted an offer to work for Arthur Judson, co-founder of Columbia Broadcasting System and founder/manager of Columbia Artists Management. After Judson’s death in 1975, Ms. Coleman joined Shaw Concerts and was Southern headquarters representative in Florida, representing Vladimir Horowitz, Van Cliburn, Nathan Milstein, Elmar Oliveira, Jessye Norman, Dame Janet Baker, Victoria de los Angeles, Jerome Hines, Maureen Forrester, Hermann Prey, Eugene Istomin, Julian Bream and John Williams. Ms. Coleman has had her own business as Artist Representative since 1993 and is active in numerous social and professional organizations.
