Cynthia Shaw<\/strong> has had a wide-ranging career as\u00a0 Soprano, Pianist and Musical Director in New York and the Northeast.\u00a0 Particularly well known as Musical Director for the yearly Christmas Revels staged at Symphony Space in Manhattan since 1995, Ms. Shaw has also worked on Broadway and Off-Broadway at the Helen Hayes Theatre (Band in Berlin)<\/em><\/strong>, the Judith Anderson Theatre (Whattya Blind?, A Musical Revue)<\/em><\/strong>, Musical Theatre Works Reading Series (Count to Ten)<\/em><\/strong>, and as featured performer at Town Hall in an NPR production of Garrison Keillor\u2019s Prairie Home Cmpanion<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 She has directed regional tours of Oliver, The Will Rogers Follies, West Side Story, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Cabaret, Babes in Arms, Jerry\u2019s Girls, South Pacific, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Kismet, Gypsy, She Loves Me, Godspell, The Wizard of Oz, Anything Goes, Annie, Kiss Me Kate, Me and My Girl,<\/em> <\/strong>and A Funny Thing Happened to Me on the Way to the Forum.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 Ms. Shaw has also directed NYC cabaret performances of I Love to Sing<\/em><\/strong> and The Caffeine Cabaret<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 In addition, she has directed and composed for Children\u2019s Musical Theatre\/Tours for the Interborough Repertory Theatre, The Gingerbread Players & Jack, Opera on the Go, and \u00a0\u00a0 a staged reading of her original musical Operation Isolation<\/em><\/strong> at the 14th<\/sup> Street Y.\u00a0 Ms. Shaw has worked as Artist in Residence\/Teaching Children at the Brooklyn Friends School, Inside Broadway, The Acting Studio & Theatre Off Park, The Hewitt School, Stagedoor Manhattan and Stagedoor Manor.\u00a0 As a Pianist, Ms. Shaw has accompanied a full concert performance of Bizet\u2019s Carmen<\/em><\/strong> at the Donnell Library Center in Manhattan and performed with soprano Beverly Hill in a benefit recital at House of the Redeemer Church in New York, sponsored by The Magic Circle Opera Repertory Ensemble.\u00a0 She was a featured performer in L\u2019Histoire de Babar, le petit elephant<\/em><\/strong> with narrator, Robert Sherman at the 1995 Mu Phi Epsilon International Convention and can be heard on a recording of Alice Parker\u2019s Transformations<\/em><\/strong> (Musical Heritage Society).\u00a0 Ms. Shaw is a frequent soprano soloist and has appeared with conductor\/organist David Hurd, organist Geoffrey Clark-Smith, and conductor Dennis Spyros in performances of Britten\u2019s Ceremony of Carols<\/em><\/strong>, Vivaldi Gloria<\/em><\/strong>, Buxtehude\u2019s Membra Jesu Nostri<\/em><\/strong>, and works by Maurice Durufl\u00e9.\u00a0 She also performs regularly each year with New York Choral Artists in concerts with the New York Philharmonic, the American Symphony Orchestra, Opera Orchestra of New York, Concert Chorale of New York and Gregg Smith Singers.\u00a0 Ms. Shaw has been involved with a number of recordings as soprano and pianist since 1992 and has performed on radio and television.\u00a0 Her formal training was in piano performance and she holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Denver and a Master of Music Degree from the Manhattan School of Music.<\/p>\n
