Soprano Kathryn Wood Madden<\/strong> (aka Kathryn Boul\u00e9)<\/em><\/strong> has enjoyed a long, distinguished career in musical theatre and opera.\u00a0 She has performed with the Washington Opera Society in productions of The Abduction of the Seraglio<\/em><\/strong> and I Pagliacci<\/em><\/strong> and as soloist in Mozart\u2019s Missa Brevis<\/em><\/strong> at Ss. Giovanni e Paolo, Venice.\u00a0 She has also appeared with the Manhattan Choral Society under the direction of Dino Anagnost in Orfeo e Euridice<\/em><\/strong>, Dvorak\u2019s Stabat Mater<\/em><\/strong>, and Handel\u2019s Messiah<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Active in regional theatre, Ms. Madden has performed\u00a0 the roles of\u00a0 Laurie (Oklahoma)<\/em><\/strong>, Frenchy (Destry Rides Again)<\/em><\/strong>, Martha Jefferson (1776)<\/em><\/strong>, Susan (Company)<\/em><\/strong>, Sara (Guys & Dolls)<\/em><\/strong>, and Antonia (Man of La Mancha)<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Her most celebrated role for 5 years was as \u201cGrace Farrell\u201d in Annie<\/em><\/strong> which she played on Broadway at the Alvin Theatre and originated the role in both First and Second National Tour Companies appearing at the Schubert Theatre, Hollywood; the Curran Theatre, San Francisco; the Opera House of the Kennedy Center & the National Theatre, Washington DC; and major theatres across the United States and Canada for a total of 1200 performances.\u00a0 She also appeared in special performances of Annie<\/em><\/strong> at the White House for President Ford and First Lady Betty Ford and for President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan.\u00a0 Additional Broadway and Off-Broadway credits include Betsy Ross (Stars and Stripes)<\/em><\/strong> at Town Hall; Eve (Viva Reviva)<\/em><\/strong> at the Open Space Theatre and Lenox Arts Center; Marie (Fiorello)<\/em><\/strong> and Vera Claythorne (Ten Little Indians)<\/em><\/strong> both at the Equity Library Theatre; and a Revue of Morse Code<\/em><\/strong> at the Manhattan Theatre Club & Ballroom.\u00a0 Ms. Madden has been seen on film and television as Sara (Summer Dreams)<\/em><\/strong>, Elaine (Working Stiffs)<\/em><\/strong>, and Kathy (The Stock Market)<\/em><\/strong> and has also performed in a number of national singing commercials.\u00a0 In addition to her extraordinary musical career, Dr. Madden holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech, Drama & English Education from the University of Maryland; a Master of Arts Degree, a Master of Philosophy Degree, and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Psychiatry and Religion from The Union Theological Seminary in New York City. She has published a wide range of articles in the Journal of Religion and Health<\/em>, Union Quarterly Review<\/em>, Quadrant<\/em>, and Continuum Press<\/em> and is a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis, the American Academy of Religion, Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, Actor\u2019s Equity Association, and the Screen Actor\u2019s Guild.\u00a0 She lives in New York City with her husband, opera singer Ron Madden, and holds a private clinical practice as psychoanalyst and is\u00a0 Academic Dean of the Blanton-Peale Institute in Manhattan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
